foolcontrol iOS GIVES YOU EASY record and playback control, ACCESS TO camera tools, look, curves, metadata, KEYMAP and menu navigation.

 

foolcontrol can drive iris and focus on electronic lenses using unique tools like knob precision adjustment, user marks, focus discs and rack focus.

 

An advanced preset system allows for quick and easy change of camera setups or look presets.

WITH foolcontrol YOU CAN :

Does it work with RAVEN, RED ONE, what about my 1st gen iPhone ?

DSMC2, WEAPON, EPIC-W, SCARLET-W and RAVEN ALL HAVE built in wifi.

It also works with EPIC, SCARLET, DRAGON... using wired GIG-E cable + wifi router, using a REDLink Bridge module or a 3rd party wifi bridge like RTMotion's Latitude, Teradek COLR...

It runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on iOS 8.1 or newer

 

It is not compatible with RED ONE cameras BUT SUPPORTS XENOMORPH, BAYEM, MONSTRO, RANGER, GEMINI, STORMTROOPER AND THERE IS EVEN A SPECIAL FREE APP FOR PANAVISION DXL CAMERAS.

 

RED RAVEN FREE APP IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH REGISTERED RED CAMERAS PURCHASED AS A KIT AT APPLE OR RED WITH A ADDITIONNAL ACCESSORIES INCLUDING A SIGMA LENS AND SPECIFIC FOOLCOLOR BRANDED  TRANSPORT CASE.

 

 

Can I try the app without a camera ?

No, you need to be able to connect (remotely or locally) to a camera to use foolcontrol.

 

 

How TO INCREASE WIFI RANGE ?

Infrastructure mode OFTEN allows for a more robust signal compared to Ad hoc. TERADEK LINK ROUTER IS A GOOD SOLUTION FOR THIS.

I am having unreliable wifi SIGNAL...

YOU SHOULD SETUP CAMERA AD HOC TO ANOTHER channeL.

WITH SOME CARRIERS LIKE T-MOBILE YOU  NEED TO TURN CELLULAR NETWORK OFF TO USE FOOLCONTROL ON A WIFI NETWORK WITH NO INTERNET ACCESS.

Can I use a GIG-E connection with foolcontrol iOS ?

Yes, USING RED's GIG-E cable AND A GIG-E wifi router. Most domestic router will only support 10/100 speeds SO are NOT compatible with RED's Ethernet implementation that does require 1000 / GIG-E speed.

Once the iOS device and camera are on same networK foolcontrol will discover and connect to your camera.

On DSMC2 cameras, a JetPack SDI or REDVolt Expander module is required for GIG-E connectivity.

 

 

Can I use a cable to avoid wifi on iOS version ?

For gyrostabilized helicopters rigs, car arm or specific solutions you can get in touch about a custom version of the app CONNECTING directly via a serial cable.

 

 

Which lenses are compatible with foolcontrol focus features ?

Any lens recognized by the camera as an AF lens or listed in RED DSMC operating guide should work with foolcontrol. To control focus using foolcontrol, the lens itself (physical switch) needs to be set to AF and the camera focus mode to 'MANUAL'.

Worth noting that most photo zoom are not parfocal and MAY not keep focus distance while zooming.

 

 

Can foolcontrol display a live image from the camera ?

The RCP protocol only allows camera control. There is no image data transmitted to foolcontrol by the camera.

 

 

Can we control multiple cameras ?

You can create presets to apply SAME CAMERA values TO  MULTIPLE CAMERAS. If you connect cameras via GIG-E to a router OR USING A CTRL-CTRL CABLE you can also LEVERAGE master / slave mode AND GROUP ID TO control SEVERAL CAMERAS SIMULTANEOUSLY with foolcontrol.

 

 

What about foolcontrol-r ?

foolcontrol-r is a restricted version of the App that allows only record start stop and last clip review along with monitoring of all the camera settings as 'read only'.
